Celebrating MLK Jr Day

On Monday, January 19th, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In our K-2 classrooms, we focus on his powerful message of peace, kindness, and equality. Below are some ways you can share his message with your students.

✏️ Explore the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In this interactive activity, students use a guided scavenger hunt to explore the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. through a digital ThingLink quest.

✏️ Have your students share their dreams for the future

This worksheet from Canva invites students to reflect on Dr. King's legacy and his "I Have a Dream" speech. After discussing his message, students can write and illustrate their own personal hopes for the future.

✏️ Walk in Dr. King’s footsteps

Use this printable template to have students write or illustrate one way they can "walk" like Dr. King by showing kindness to others.

✏️ My Peace Pledge

Ask students to take the Peace Pledge by having your students showcase how their small actions can be big steps. This activity encourages students to commit to small, daily actions that foster peace, mirroring Dr. King's belief that individual character and kindness are essential for social change.
